sms Banking® Service is a notification system that provides the client with up-to-date information on account transactions, via a text message.
This special service includes notifications, alerts and confirmations; i.e. salary deposit, overdrawn account, and last (n) transactions. Two types of message formats are available - Push services and Pull services.
     
Q : What is the sms Banking® Push Service?
A :
When messages are automatically sent by the bank and triggered by the happening of an event or a transaction, they are called 'Push messages'. Examples of the ‘Push' messages are: Overdrawn Account, Returned Cheques, Loan Disbursement, Remittance Deposit, Last Transaction, etc.
     
Q : What is the sms Banking® Pull Service?
A :

Messages extracted from the bank by request. Examples of the 'Pull' messages are: Balance Inquiry, Summary of Balances, Internal/External Money Transfer, Currency/Interest Rates, Cheque book Request, ATM Request, GSM Bill Payment, etc.

     
Q : Can I access this service from any mobile phone?

Yes. Your mobile phone need not be of a specific type to subscribe to this service.

What is the maximum length for the SMS or text message?

A :
SMS (Short Message Service) is a service for sending messages of up to 160 characters to mobile phones that use Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication. Each short message is up to 160 characters is length when Latin alphabets are used, and 70 characters in length when non-Latin alphabets such as Arabic and Chinese are used.

Will I receive these messages if my phone is out of range or inactive?
A :

SMS messages do not require the mobile phone to be active and within range and will be held for a number of days until the phone is active and within range.
