Jordan Mobile Telephone Services (JMTS/Fastlink), founded in 1995, was the first operator to introduce mobile phone services into Jordan . In 2000, Fastlink became a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom, the largest GSM network operator in the Middle East and Africa , with more than 19 cellular operators in the region and a company that is committed to expanding its investments in the Jordanian marketplace.
Fastlink today is moving beyond the boundaries of voice communications to lead the mobile data revolution in the Jordanian market. It was the first to introduce commercial service WAP connectivity in the Middle East and also to enter into mobile-banking partnerships with leading banks in Jordan . The company is currently breaking new ground in introducing the next generation of high-speed mobile data services. In June 2001, Fastlink claimed a milestone in broader-band communications in Jordan with its announcement of the first end-to-end demonstration of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) capabilities, and in January 2002 the company launched the first commercial GPRS service in the country.
Finally, the company strongly believes in giving back to the community, and has been instrumental in leading charity and community service activities. Fastlink is proud of its track record of lending continuous financial support to the programs of the Ministry of Social Development. |
